Building Twittr gems
Product Design | 2020

About the project
Find, Discover & Read The Best Twitter Threads
Twittr Gems helps you find, discover & read the best 500+ curated twitter threads across 25+ categories like Startups, Technology, Product Management, Productivity, Personal Finance, Web3 etc
The challenge
Bookmarked 99 Threads but haven't read one?
- Finding quality Twitter Threads around any particular category was difficult
- Most bookmarked threads, stays in bookmarks only, never read
- Finding new & helpful threads was very difficult
Solution
Did we actually nail the challenge?
YES!!! Twittr Gems is widely used for consuming twitter threads in a more structed and non disruptive way. No more scrolling for hours through different creators to find their tweets. Twitter gems was category based, so can be searched via creators, via your topic of interest etc.
Outcome
- Featured as Product of the day on product hunt
- 5000+ views total views along with various mentions on twitter/insta
- Nominated for Golden Kitty awards
Process
But how did we do it?

Twittr Gems was build and shipped in less than 150 hours which is less than a week
Problem : Irrelevant tweets
Interest based categorization
A creator on Twitter generally writes threads on more than a single category, this becomes difficult to find when you got to scroll through a creator’s feed to find that one tweet that is relevant to your niche : This solves that
- Tweets are categorised based on user interests which makes searching and consuming faster
- Makes it more personalised for a user’s niche
- Every tweet has it’s category (niche) mentioned to help users identify new interests

Problem: Information overload
Creator focused
We all have that one favourite creator who’s tweets we love and keep coming back to, this replicates the original twitter user behaviour
- Tweets are categorised based on user interests which makes searching and consuming faster
- Makes it more personalised for a user’s niche
- Every tweet has it’s category (niche) mentioned to help users identify new interests

Problem : Retriving information
Personal Collections
Users often find it difficult to locate tweets after they have bookmarked them on Twitter, to solve this we created user profiles
- Users make their own collection with their own naming conventions
- Users are able to retrive what they want faster by filtering via collections
- Users can also externally share their collections which can be viewed by anyone and everyone
- Users can also pin their most used collection for faster retriving on information

Conclusion
Learnings & Going forward
With Twittr Gems we learned a lot of new interesting things, here are few of them:
- When building products, make the Most Usuable Products (MUP) which are viable too
- Building & shipping products fast & iterating over time is more important than building a perfect in the first version
- Start with one core problem of your target group & solve it in the best way rather than trying to solve for multiple ones at start.
